Purpose: To assess the contribution of antidepressant-associated mania to psychiatric hospitalization.

Patients: 533 inpatient admissions.

Results: 43 out of 533 (>8%) patients were admitted to hospital due to antidepressant-associated mania or psychosis. 70% of these admissions involved SSRI use.
